How
long do the trails take to ride?
All the trails built so far take between 1 hour to 3 depending
on how fit and skill level.
Are
they suitable for novices?
Only the Penhydd trail would be suitable for total novices
and there are sections of that you’ll probably have
to walk if your not sure. The Wall and Whites Level trails
are much more technically challenging, with the Skyline best
left to the fit and experienced mountain bikers.
Is
there enough riding for a whole weekend?
Absolutely! Even the super fit & experienced riders will
have their work cut out to complete all the Afan Forest trails
in one weekend. The epic Skyline 46km will keep the average
rider busy for an entire day.
Is
there a café?
Yes and you are spoilt for choice with cafés at both
Afan Forest Park Visitior Centre and Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike
Centre. Ring to check seasonal opening hours.
Do
I have to pay to park?
Yes you have to pay £2 for all day parking, but there
is a car park attendant who will look after your car and give
any info you care to ask for. Much more friendly than a machine!
Is
there something for the family to do while I’m off riding?
Yes! There is a small museum and various nature walks with
a children’s quiz trail at Afan Argoed or try a spot
of fishing up at Glyncorrwg Ponds.
Is
there any local “Nitelife” besides badgers and
owls?
Not near the centre, but there are some nice pubs close by
that serve some really good food. For nightlife you need to
travel to Neath or Swansea which both have good reputations
for the livelier side of things.
