How long do the trails take to ride?
Depending on fitness and skill levels, the Afon takes 1.3hrs, Temptiwr 0.5-1hr, Tarw 1.5-3hrs, MBR 1.5-3hrs and the Dragon's Back & The Beast will take 3-6 hrs.

 Are they suitable for novices?
Only the 'Afon' trail is suitable for novices, all other of the waymarked trails should be ridden with care by anyone with not much experience.

Is there enough riding for a whole weekend?
With three major trail systems there is definitely enough riding to keep you here for the weekend. If you can follow OS maps, there's enough to keep you in the area for a week or two!

Will I only see trees and gravel paths?
As well as the stunning mountain scenery you will see various things in the forest if you look around or stop once in a while. Birds like buzzards are the most common, but you might see goshawks, black grouse, as well as many other different species of birds. Mammals vary from vole's to deer, but you might see the odd pixie if you’re really lucky!

When is the best time of year to ride?
There's always good riding to be had here all through the year, but personally spring and autumn is my favourite. Cool enough for the long climbs, and no flies or midges.

How can I learn to build all weather trails myself?
Get in touch with me (mark.mortimer@forestry.gsi.gov.uk) and if I get enough interest, I’ll do a trailbuilding school.

 Is there a café?
Oh yes, and a good one at that, run by Gareth and Faye.

Do I have to pay to park?
Yes, ‘fraid so.

Is there something for the family to do while I’m off riding?
As well as walks for the family to do around the centre itself, there is also a play area for the younger members, with the café nearby to refresh them when they need it.

Is there any local “Nitelife” besides badgers and owls?
There's not as much night life as there is in say, Birmingham, but there is some. There are plenty of pubs in Dolgellau itself as well as various eating establishments. Barmouth has a nightclub if your desperate for something else! Porthmadog has loads of drinking holes as well as a very good Indian restaurant. All in all there is plenty here if you go looking for it.
