Coed-y-Brenin is part of the Snowdonia
National Park and the busy towns of Dolgellau and
Bala
are both nearby so theres plenty to do if you
dont want to ride. The visitor centre at Coed-y-Brenin
itself has an excellent cafe run by mountain bikers
Sian and Dafydd as well as a shop offering walking /
riding maps and other outdoor essentials.
Cader
Idris, Rhinog and surrounding mountains - including
Snowdon itself - offer superb walking and climbing routes
with phenomenal scenery and theres even a dry
ski slope next to the forest if you fancy down hilling
without wheels.
Bala has an internationally renowned whitewater-canoeing
centre while the coast at Barmouth
offers excellent windsurfing and surfing conditions.
If you want a gentler day, Barmouth has sandy beaches and
a funfair, while the famous Ffestiniog
steam railway is only a few minutes from Coed-y-Brenin.
Dolgellau and Bala also offer a wide range of local shopping,
tourist attractions and places to eat and drink through the
day and night.
