Cwm Carn might be located in the industrial heartland of South Wales, but it's an outstandingly beautiful and wild area. The Forest has a designated scenic drive with an adventure playground half way round, as well as a family walk complete with wooden sculptures from myth and legend. There are also miles and miles of unmarked walking trails stretching through the forest and over the moors into adjacent valleys where peace and solitude are assured.

The Black Mountains - half an hour's drive north - is one of Britain's most unspoilt wilderness areas, perfect for walking, climbing and other outdoor activities.

If you fancy something more metropolitan, Cardiff is only a few miles away, offering everything you'd expect from a capital city including shopping, the arts and top sporting events at the Millennium stadium.
