MBWales - Womens Gravity Camp

Womens Gravity Camp

Ladies Gravity Camp
Campbell Coaching are hosting a Ladies Gravity Camp on the 14th - 16th September 2012. You can expect a relaxed and friendly vibe with expert tuition from UCI World Cup riders Sara Newman and Helen Gaskell.

Where is it? It will be based in North Wales at the Onegiant Leap site just outside Llangollen (LL208AR ) The Campbell Coaching Skills Area is located here and it's just 15min drive from the popular Coed Llandegla Trail Centre too so you can drop off your male partners or riding buddies to get them out of the way!

What is included? The WE will include the following:

a. Half day sessions of fully qualified MTB Skills coaching with the following key elements:

1.Lots of feedback and practice, this is how you are going to develop the skills progressively.

2.Live video coaching where needed so you can see what you are actually doing

b. Suitable progressive terrain. We have a wide range of corners from steep loose Alpine style ones to easy flat corners to develop your skills on, our drops range from 20cm up to over 1m and our jumps are really progressive too. We will progress youalong to a point where either your Skills or confidence start tobecome challenged and then show you howto keep it all on track! If you have done a course with us before at Llangollen it's a great chance for a recap or push your skills to the next level, we are also building some interesting new features for this course you might find interesting too!

c. Uplift day, Sunday 15th Martin will run a Ladies only uplift day for us, we will have priority however we will allow other female riders to join us just for the uplift day if we don't fill it.

d. Post course CD with Demo's and pictures taken from the WE
How will the WE will run? We aim to keep it all fun and relaxed first and foremost so you can enjoy the riding but also meet other riders as you develop your skills. Here is what is happening day by day:

Friday: While it is not essential to turn up on Friday we thought it would be nice to get everyone together so we can all meet up and also make sure you get the most out of the WE. We will be on site to provide more info on the sessions book people in and just meet everyone. Camping is included on site, tents or vans with basic facilities, portaloo's and fresh water etc!

Saturday: We will split in to smaller groups and run half day coaching sessions in the morning and afternoon, you sign up for the session either on Friday night after a chat with us or on Saturday morning if you can’t make Friday. (Start time is 9am) Here are the sessions you can chose from, pick one AM and one PM session, if your not sure don't 'stress' leave it till you have a chat with us and we can help you decide what will be best for you.

AM:Smoother cornering, Confident Drop Off's, Pumping & Manuals, Bunny Hop 101

PM:Advanced Cornering, Intro to essential DH skills, Jumping Improvers, Bigger & Steeper Drop Off's

Saturday evening there will be an early evening session on setting up your bike properly and also washing, lubeing it and we will also provide a BBQ (make sure you let us know your preference on the joining info & bring your own booze!) and a film show to chill out too and inspire you for Sunday!

Sunday: Again we will have a few options for you to chose from, there will be more coaching sessions available as well as either a full day or 1/2 day of uplift available. Don’t worry if you have never been on an uplift day before either with no testosterone fuelled 'He Men’ about it will be a bit less intimidating and more relaxed! If you are keen to try the tracks but feel a bit ‘out of your depth’ we will also be on hand to guide you down too. If you do a full day of uplift you can expect to get about 10 to 15 runs in however that makes it a ‘physically demanding day’ and you will be shattered by the end! If you would rather not do the uplift day Sundays sessions will be:

AM: First Aid for MTB an intro, Maintenance; how to change a gear cable and index your gears, Guiding on the DH tracks. The WE will roll to a close about 5.30ish.

What gear will I need? A serviceablebike, you don't need a 'big rig' to come and ride, however as a guide; 4-5" trail bikes will handle the DH tracks OK (you can also ride round all the bigger features too) if your on a hard-tail thats fine for the coaching sessions however unless you are quite confident you might find the DH tracks a touch 'pushy' Full Face helmets are advisory for the Uplift tracks however if your confident or experienced they are not mandatory. If you have pads, body armour bring them and you can decide. If you want more advice please contact us.
Coaching Staff: We are also super stoked to also announce that our good friends and UCI World Cup riders Sara Newman and Helen Gaskell will also be joining us on on the coaching staff to run some of the sessions too!
Lots there for you to have a look at so hopefully it all makes sense and looks like something you feel would be fun and help you develop your riding?Cost wise for the above WE it's £150 per person. There are only 18 places for the WE so please don't leave it too late!
