Centre:Coed Y Brenin
Distance:20.2km

"The original and still one of the best, ride out through the big horns and you’ll find the Tarw Du trail (previously Red Bull trail) has sucked up all the superb starter sections on the far side of the road from the visitor centre. This makes it a superbly varied singletrack fest and the best technical race course anywhere in Britain."

  Tarw Du
This is destined to become the forest’s iconic trail and one which you won’t want to miss! A technically challenging ride with twisty, rocky sections, fast flowing descents and views across to the Snowdonia range. It’s a “Top Dogger”.

Warning: you will encounter a number of rocky sections including rock steps with a drop of 20cm/8''or more.

Trail Reviews:
"I did the ride on a decent hard tail and suffered blurred vision on some of the rapid descents! This trail is definitely better suited to full suspension bikes.

This is still a great route though, with some very nice technical sections as well hell for leather blasts. The new section at the end ("Pins and Needles") reminds me of watching Kick Start as kid- much fun was had (but I would think twice about doing this section in the wet without body armour!!).

The facilities at the new visitor centre are fantastic!"
James Morgan from Cheshire

"Great ride, with mixture of technical descents (rocks, mud and roots in abundance). Climbs short and steep on fire roads. A bike busting blast!"
Tim and James from Coltishall, Norfolk
