December updates for Afan Argoed trails
Just in from MTB ranger Carl in South Wales is the latest news from the trails at Afan.
"Due to current climatic conditions all the trails are frozen solid with patches of ice and a layer of snow covering most of the tracks. Please take extra care when riding the trails at this time.
The Wall

Weekdays are seeing the Neath Port Talbot Skills and Training Unit carrying out some much need maintenance on various sections trail
warning signs and safety banksman will be in place so please adhere to all safety notices
- weekends all sections will be clear.

Heartburn/Handy Andy and Grand Canyon shut due to harvesting operations.
Diversions are in place.
Trail Maintenance on Jetlag has not happened yet due to Frozen ground conditions. This will be now be done when the ground thaws enough.
Penhydd
The Penhydd mountain bike trail closed on12 April 2010 for approximately one year whilst Forestry Commission Wales carries out essential tree thinning work in the area. Full details can be found in the press release below.
Rheilffordd
Due to a land slip below the old railway line near Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre the Wall and Rheilffordd have been diverted to cross the Afan Valley directly below the visitor centre. The diversion is on a shared path with walkers therefore can you follow all caution signs when being asked to dismount."
