Former pro cyclists' pub up for enterprise award
A pub owned by former GB pro cyclist Lee Finch and his wife Sian is up for top Welsh award.
OK so it's not the most direct link to mountain biking, but given the landlords past you can be sure of a very warm welcome if you turn up to the West Arms Hotel on any sort of spoked wheels. The former cattle drovers inn dates back to 1670, but 439 years after serving it's first flagon of ale, it's now up for a Welsh rural enterprise award. This is in addition to being voted the AA courtesy and care award winner for 2003/2004 and the AA best seafood pub of the year 2005/2006 and being reccomended in the Michelin Guide.
So, if you heading anywhere near Llanarmon near Llangollen with or without bike Lee and Sian should definitely be on your short stop or stayover shortlist.
