On site shop Skyline cycles can already do a great job on your bike, but for 2010 they'll be looking after your belly too. The on site shop at the trail head already put on or are involved in a range of events including demo days and the excellent Kona Mash Up series (don't forget the next one in December). Now they're taking over the Dropoff cafe upstairs too so snacks and spannering are even more closely linked.
The Skyline staff told us; "We are delighted to have been successful in our bid to operate the café and to have the opportunity to expand our business further into providing first class services to mountain bikers at Glyncorrwg. We are looking forward to the challenge of not just maintaining the reputation that the Dropoff has deservedly achieved over the last five years, but the challenge to make it even better."
With a perfect view of the final sections and opening climbs of the most popular Glyncorrwg trails the Dropoff is a fantastic place to plan your assault or relive your glory moments while watching others go through theirs. With proper mountain bikers planning the menu you be sure it'll hit the spot whether you're just nipping out round the Wall or going for the full Skyline epic loop too. We'll keep you updated with any more details here when we get them, but for now here's the rest of the official press release:
The lease for the café at the visitors centre which opened in 2005, expires at the end of this year and the Glyncorrwg Ponds Co-Operative have over the last few weeks been holding in depth discussions with a number of potential operators, as part of the tender evaluation process for the award of a new lease for the Cafe area at the Mountain Bike Centre.
Following submission of Business Plans and presentations by the potential operators a spokesperson for the Co-operative said
"I am pleased to be able to inform you, that Skyline Cycles, who already operate a successful mountain bike business at the centre, will be taking over the lease for the café early in 2010."
