MBWales - New two day enduro event for North Wales

New two day enduro event for North Wales

Fancy a full weekend of superb mountain biking in late summer? Hiraethog 50:50 sounds ideal.
The team behind a brand new two day Enduro MTB event in one of Wales best 'secret' riding areas have just been in touch and it sounds like a cracking addition to the late summer riding calendar for serious riders. Here's the low down from Adrian:
"Hiraethog 50:50 is a new event to Wales and is not yet another marathon / enduro following the style of a 100 others.
Firstly we have over 40 sq miles of land to utilise
The event team is led by legendary Mountain Mayhem organiser and original Red Bull route sponsor Pat Adams and is fully supported by the landowners Welsh Water, Foresty Commission Wales and the North Wales Mountain Bike Association.
More than 90% of the course is over 1000ft above sea level.
The full 50:50 event will be 100 miles in total.
The course is 50 miles long with 5,000 ft of climbing.
There is no sting in the tail here, after your first 50 miles you will stop and have the night off and restart the following day.
The second day you do the same course in reverse.
There will be regular checkpoints where you can get food, and body or bike serviced.
The main lap you ride at your own pace with no early start , no late finish and generous cut offs if you are going slow.
At least one special XC stage which will be timed and will identify an overall winner.
Being held late summer there is a chance the weather allows for amazing views of Snowdonia the Berwyn and Clwydian Range giving a full mountain feeling.
Entry numbers will be limited to both the 100 and 50 mile events so early entry is advisable."
