MBWales - Take care out there!

Take care out there!

With weather and trail conditions changing hourly we've had this wise warning from Coed y Brenin MTB ranger Andy Braund. Go careful out there folks, broken bones take ages to heal!

"  The freezing level is around 200 to 400m, however you can expect to
find old compacted snow and ice below that especially in places which
don't get any sunshine. There are a few places where the ice can get
quite thick, even right across the forest roads.

People have been out on the trail and it really is up to you as to how
confident and capable you are in such conditions. The snow makes it much
harder physically. You will need to take extra food and water to keep
your energy levels up and stay hydrated. Be prepared for any
eventuality. The ice can catch out the most experienced. Preferably ride
with a buddy, take extra clothing, even an emergency shelter in case of
an injury. Most importantly leave details of where your going with a
competant person, give an estimated time of finishing and make sure you
let them know when your back.

I believe it is due to get milder by the end of the week so keep an eye
on the Snowdonia forecast which is updated daily...
