MBWales - Tredz urban downhill in Penarth this Sunday

Tredz urban downhill in Penarth this Sunday

Gravity racing goes urban in South Wales this weekend

Based on the legendarily lunatic European `Downtown` urban downhill races, the idea of swapping techy singletrack and roots for narrow streets and flights of steps is really catching on.

They tried it in Bridgnorth last year with great success and now local Cardiff bike shop Tredz has organised the event in the seaside town of Penarth. The 300 rider start list is already full, but with top names like Will Longden and Neil Donoghue from Team MBUK/Santa Cruz, Scott Beaumont and Fionn Griffiths lining up to hit the as yet secret course spectating should be massive fun.

All local roads will be closed to traffic so you can wander about freely and practice starts at 11am, with race runs kicking off at 2pm. Much more information - including a full rider list - can be found at http://www.downtownrace.co.uk/
