Sorry ma, you know I absolutely love you, and I won't ever forget that you lent me the money for my first mountain bike, but I won't be around till late on Sunday.
A week of stunning sunshine means the trails are running unbelievably well right now. Wednesdays singletrack was getting it's first smooth rolled lines though sections that have been swamp for months, and while it might have been cold on the hill top sheeptrack last night we really were kicking up dust. Yes, dust - in March! It's been the first week where every test run hasn't meant a proper behind the ears and gears jetwash session taking almost as long as the ride.
So with bad weather potentially brewing for the end of next week there's no way I'm not grabbing this unexpected early spring sweet spot with both hands. In other words mum, I will be coming over on Sunday, but there'll be a well used - but not muddy - bike in the back of the car when I eventually get there!
At the risk of getting into trouble with your mum, we suggest you do the same!
