We've just got news of three family friendly rides for various good causes. The top, middle, bottom distribution is enough to get Carol Vorderman cock a hoop and means there's one local(ish) to most people too.
First up is the
Dairi Pak Mountain Bike challenge on Saturday 9th May. The event has been run by the local Rotary Club for several years and this year you've got 22 miles of prime 'can't normally ride them' Berwyn mountain trails to go at. There's also a 6 mile event for families, both setting off from Rhiwlas Village Hall near Oswestry. Full details and entry/sponsorship forms from
jonathan.jones5@virgin.net.
The following day the 'North Wales bike ride' is back for it's second year, complete with a new 30mile route for 'more adventurous' riders as well as shorter family routes. It all kicks off from Rhyl seafront on Sunday 10th May. Finally on the 5th of July the always very popular Gower Bike Ride rolls out on 16 and 29 mile routes around South Wales stunning peninsula.
Both events have their full details on
www.bhf.org.uk and they're a great way to get less experienced riders rolling out and back with a real sense of achievement. There's nothing to stop you sneaking off and getting a fix of local singletrack while they're doing their bit either, but make sure you sponsor them OK!
