MTB Ranger Tony Griff has just finished his early winter tour of duty on all the trails in Wales, so here`s a round up of exactly what`s happening now and going into next year.
There are some maintenance teams on Gwydyr chopping back vegetation at the moment so careful you don`t get strimmed. The unique raised rought trail tread is holding up really really well considering it`s one of the oldest Welsh trails, so make sure you give it avisit this springand get your fill of the stunning Snowdonia views and twisting technical riding.
There are diversions on several sections of the Coed y Brenin network at the moment as work has started on three new sections of the Addams family - Gomez, Morticia and Lurch. The superfast new Hermon section is fully open for high speed, flowing business though. Just watch out for the couple of tighter turns near the end.
Finally after some comments on confusion with technical dificulty levels this summer the Afon and Temtiwr trails have been resigned. Afon is now a `Green` rated trail while the unique Temtiwr trail gets a new `Purple` practice designation. After the massive success of the try out events held at CYB this year, look out for a lot more events making use of the stunning trails next season.
Up on the tops at Nant Yr Arian there are a few diversions to keep you out of some sections damaged by recent harvesting, but those should be cleared away soon. It`s certainly a stunning place to ride in winter, although make sure you wrap up well though as it can be proper Arctic once you`re out of the woods and on the tops.
Don`t forget each site covered by Tony - Gwydyr, Coed y Brenin and Nant Yr Arian - has it`s own `Trail report` section on the relevant web page. If you`ve got any comments about the trails or any news on stuff you`ve noticed then please get in touch with Tony direct via the "send suggestion" button on the page so he can sort any problems out or just to tell him what a great job he and his crews are doing on the trails.
That`s all for now folks, but obviously you`ll hear any more new trail news here first.
