Coed Trallwm
How long do the trails take to ride?
Blue: 25mins
Red: 35mins
Black: 40mins for pretty competent riders, longer for those less experienced.
Riding all the trails will take 2-4 hours depending on ability and weather.

 Are they suitable for novices?
We have a fairly short loop for absolute novices - most do it several times to build confidence - this incorporates an even mix of single track and fire-roads.
The other trails are all MTB trails and you need to have basic off road experience to ride the Blue Trail which is the least challenging of the trails.

Is there enough riding for a whole weekend?
There is enough riding for half a day on our purpose built Trails and there is a wealth of bridlepaths in and around Coed Trallwm for those who like to mix up way-marked and un-marked rides. We are always very happy to help people locate great routes - call us or come and have a chat in the Forest Cafe.

Will I only see trees and gravel paths?
On all of our trails you are rewarded with amazing views but those that take on the red and the black trails (the most technical trails) will get to witness some really incredible sights including the whole of the valley at the summits (note that these are inevitably at their best on clear days).

When is the best time of year to ride?
The Trails are 90% stone so you’re able to ride year round but they ride fastest in the dry/when it is frosty. They were very popular in the snow in December too!

 Is there a café?
Yep! The Forest Cafe, which is getting a great reputation for its homemade cakes (check out the carrot cake), hot chocolate and good homemade lunches, is next to the Car Park.
As well as serving hot food and drinks etc the Forest Cafe acts as the hub of the centre and is the information point (maps, puncture repair and tools, advise and a warm welcome. We also sell bike basics like inner tubes.
Due to popular demand we now offer a night ride and fodder package - a hot home cooked supper when you have done your night-ride and showered etc, subject to numbers, booking necessary.
Check for seasonal opening hours www.coedtrallwm.co.uk Tel. 01591610546.

Do I have to pay to park?
There is a £2 car park charge which includes a trail map and bike wash.

Is there something for the family to do while I’m off riding?
People are quite welcome to go for walks or relax and watch the birds or read the paper in the cafe. There is also a children’s table where little ones can do colouring etc - we now have a good collection of Winnie (our dog) pictures, many of which are up on the Forest Cafe walls! The table football out on the decking seems, surprisingly, to attract absolutely all ages and guarantees to entertain!

Is there any local “Nitelife” besides badgers and owls?
There's the Trout inn 3.5 miles away. Pubs, Restaurants and Hotels in Llanwrtyd Wells 3.5 miles and the nearest nightclub is in Builth Wells 15 miles away. For those staying over - in our holiday cottages or camping - we are happy to open in the evening to serve an evening meal (subject to numbers) and also offer 'homemade ready meals' that you pop in the oven in your cottage if you can't move from in front of the woodburner after a good days riding (advanced ordering necessary.)
