Cwm Rhaeadr Route

From the small car park the route uses fire roads for the 2.7km ascent, but don’t worry the climb soon melts away and you are met at the top with 4km of quality singletrack and quality views of the cwm (valley) and rhaeadr (waterfall), which give this forest its name. There are plenty of rollers, berms and rocky descents to keep you occupied all the way back to the car park, and as the loop takes about 45 minutes to complete, there’s always plenty of time for one more go!

Storm Emma has brought significant numbers of large trees down on the mountain bike trail. These are at the top, middle and lower sections of the trail. As such it is closed to riders, and due to extensive damage elsewhere, our resources are stretched and we regret that it isn’t possible to say when the trail will be reopened. We will update when we have the trail reopened.

Glad to say the trail has now re-opened following the havoc caused by Storm Emma. However, there’s one bit near the top of the descent where we can’t move some trees fallen over the trail: with a bit of care you can push your bike around by going above the root plates. We are looking at an engineering solution in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Further update once completed.
