A route ideal for riders who are fit but prefer less technical routes. Up to the Lake takes you through the Clocaenog Forest, home of the Rally and the rare Black Grouse; and one of the few remaining places to spot Red Squirrels in Wales. Llyn Brenig is a vast man made lake and a popular fishing and sailing destination. This route allows you to circumnavigate its entire shoreline, with the opportunity for a snack at the visitors centre, before bringing you over the dam wall itself for your return trip through the forest. A great day ride with some magnificent views of wild Wales.

I live on the edge of the Clocaenog forest and as a keen cyclist I have ridden this route and many others for many years anyone who comes to the area will not be disapointed with this cycling route.
It is ideal for families and the more demanding rider with magnificent views when you reach the ‘Brenig’ lake if you are interested in the Welsh language it is called ‘Llyn Brenig’. There is a very good visitor centre and Cafe’ serving excellent food with good views on the lakeside.
You can also park your car here and start your ride from here for the whole route or just ride around the lake, which ever you choose you wil have a great time.
I hope to see you all out there enjoying one of the great MTB areas of Wales Happy cycling !!!!
