Van Rd Trails

South Wales

About

Please note that due to an extensive overhaul of the site, several lines are ‘under construction’ and are due to be ready for Summer 2022. Check our Facebook page for updates.

Van Rd Trails is a dedicated dirt-jump site based on the edge of Caerphilly town in South Wales, sporting nine tracks of increasing and varying levels of difficulty, all designed to help you progress your bike-jumping abilities.

We have nine tracks plus a trick jump, six of which are jump lines of increasing size, starting with small table tops for the beginners and progressing up to pro level, gapped dirt-jumps for ‘big air’ enthusiasts. There is a fun, novice track suited to young beginners if rollers and berms are new to you. We also have a dual slalom track suited to all ages and abilities, rideable by the novice whilst still being fun and challenging to the expert. A tarmac, all-weather pump track is currently under construction as of Winter 2021, due to be complete and open for Summer 2022.

Cost to Ride/Opening Times

Here’s the best bit…..Van Rd Trails is FREE to ride and is always open but we do ask that you become a member or make a donation to our Paypal to help with upkeep of the trails and insurance (required to keep the site open and is VERY expensive). Please don’t ignore this aspect of riding the trails. Your help is very much appreciated.

To help out you can also purchase Van Rd Trails exclusive hats and t-shirts. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for availability.

Events

Every year we hold our annual Dual Slalom Event for fund-raising and fun-raising! We hope to hold more events annually too. Check our social media pages to keep up to date so you can join in.

Safety

Van Rd Trails is an unmanned facility so prepare for any emergency situation and have means to contact emergency services. Don’t ride alone. Always wear protective gear such as a helmet and pads. Make sure your bike is in good working order and suitable for this type of riding. Nothing replaces common sense so bring this with you too……and always weigh up the track you are about to embark upon before you become a have-a-go hero!

Due to being an unmanned site in the woods, Van Rd Trails has no facilities such as toilets or a cafe, although we are only a short distance from Caerphilly town centre and all its amenities. Bring what you need with you, but please make sure you take ALL your rubbish home with you. Thank you.

Getting Here

Located on the western edge of Caerphilly town….unsurprisingly, on Van Rd! Park at the Coed Parc-Y-Van forestry car park and walk/ride up the forestry track before turning right into the trails. Bike / foot access at the top of the site from the woodland walking track just off Van Rd hill will be open for Summer 2022.
